A lot of “AI agents” either only chat, or make you stand up a whole stack yourself. Cindy takes another path: an open-source, ready-to-run agent client that wires harnesses like Claude Code, Codex, and Pi together with multi-device access — and gets the work done on your machines.

What it actually does
- Same task across devices: office PC, home box, laptop, and phone on one account — continue chats and reach files; the phone app includes remote desktop when you need to drive the computer.
- Pick a harness: table-style wiring for Claude Code, Codex, and extensible open-source Pi; switch per task. When needed, several agents can split work (plan / parallel implement / independent review).
- Work in real tools: files, browser, apps; answers can include charts, interactive controls, and HTML — not text alone. Automations, Slack (and Feishu in China) handoffs, plus Skills, plugins, and MCP extensions.
- A partner you can shape: custom roles, instructions, memory, and Skills; SkillHub to discover extensions. You can also “skip login” and use a local agent first (cloud-dependent features stay off).

How it sits next to other AI assistants / agents on this site
| Need | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Free cloud trial agent, one-click GitHub deploy for QwenPaw | AgentScope Platform (EN pending) |
| Tencent-flavored self-hosted assistant on Docker Ubuntu | Octop (China channels; EN skipped) |
| Free AI assistant on Cloudflare | Talorys (EN pending) |
| Proxy that compresses agent context | Headroom (EN pending) |
| Long-term memory handoff across coding agents | ai-memory |
| Desktop + phone, Claude Code / Codex harnesses, ready client | Cindy |
Who it is for (and who should skip)
Good fit: already on Claude Code / Codex and want one UI plus cross-device continuity; want an auditable open-source client; willing to manage model keys or subscriptions yourself.
Skip for now: expect “install = unlimited model quota”; cannot accept a client/server split (full hosted features need a Cindy account and matching services); zero tolerance for 0.1.x churn — when checked, trunk was still 0.1.x with fast stable and beta drops.
Remote access needs the computer online, the same account, and the right permissions; project files stay on the original machine — this is not whole-disk sync. Cloud-partner chats / memory / Skills sync through Cindy’s services; anything sent to a model provider is handled by that provider.
